About Sjoerd Derine
Sjoerd Derine is a professional photographer in the performing arts, based in Utrecht. He's been captivating audiences with his dynamic artistry since 1998, both as a dancer and photographer. His journey began in Utrecht where he discovered the youth-theater company DOX and delved into the electrifying world of Hip-Hop dance. It was there that he picked up his camera and started capturing the beauty of dance in still and moving frames.
Through the years, Sjoerd has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Holland Dance Festival, Nederlandse Dans Dagen, Het National Ballet, and renowned dance companies like Introdans and Illusionary Rockaz Company (IRC). He's also captured award-winning artists like Redo and Shailesh Bahoran in motion. His work has graced the covers of multiple Dance Magazines and other top publications, and has been featured by papers such as Volkskrant, NRC, and Het Parool.
Sjoerd approaches his craft with a unique perspective. He moves with the dancers, capturing each moment with an eye for detail and a heart full of passion and admiration for the art of dance. His goal is to serve the art piece, bringing new life to the art form and creating stunning visual masterpieces.
